Painted Pumpkins from the fields of Airwerx Custom Art Studio

Airwerx Custom Studio has produced it's annual crop of painted pumpkins since 1995. Originally this was done each year with real pumpkins, but for obvious reasons this was not the ideal material to use for these artworks. Since then, I have expanded to using realisitic faux pumpkins. That's right! Almost all the pumpkins pictured here are made of foam.

Can you tell which ones are real?

Yes, I will paint on gourds, and most anything else you can imagine!

Have you ever wondered?

Pumpkin carving originates from the Irish legend of Stingy Jack, a loathsome character who tricked the devil, and was cursed to walk the earth when he died. He carries a burning coal to guide his way in the darkness.

European traditions create a variety of 'Jack's Lanterns' from large turnips, potatos and beets, carved with scary faces to protect homes from evil spirits. When immigrants came to America they found the native pumpkin an ideal fruit for this old tradition of Fall.

The foam pumpkins are lightweight and long lasting. Each is hand painted and a unique creation. They are durable and suitable for indoor and outdoor usage. Any design can be ordered, or you may chose from these designs here. Please remember, because of the shapes and each one being painted individually, there may be slight variations from the images here.

Do I still paint real pumpkins?

Yes, but these are only done on an individual basis and cannot be shipped.

Pumpkins can be shipped, or local pick up and delivery can be arrainged. Payments are accepted in person, or by using PayPal.
